Simon has over thirty years’ experience as a structural engineer for urban environments.
With a deep understanding of physical, social and sustainability issues in building structures, Simon has a particular interest in the refurbishment, reuse and adaptation of existing buildings.
At MPN, Simon is responsible for the leadership and management of client relationships, multi-disciplinary teams delivering complex projects. He is highly regarded as a creative thinker who delivers innovative solutions to complex problems. His meticulous attention to detail results in quality outcomes for clients.
Simon’s exemplary work on the Flowstate Southbank 2020 project has been recognised with an ASI High Commendation. The project included refurbishing the Expo era buildings to an adaptable art space and park area. He also received the ASI Queensland Excellence Award for the Robina Wave Roof in 2006, which involved designing the centrepiece of the Market Hall and kitchens at Robina Town Centre.
Simon has been convenor of the MPN/UQ Design Challenge since 2016, which allows third-year structural engineering students to win prize money for solving design problems. Simon also regularly presents guest lectures at The University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology.
