Redevelopment stages three and four at Lavarack Barracks involved the design and construction of 11 precincts and 160 new or refurbished buildings within an operational military base.
With a focus on sustainability and longevity, MPN delivered office buildings, workshops, maintenance facilities, storage warehouses, vehicle shelters, training facilities, and obstacle courses with a focus on:
• Design solutions to facilitate prefabricated building and façade systems.
• Adoption of standardised details for repetitive elements to obtain benefits for economy of scale and minimise construction time.
• Adoption of portal frame steel structures to minimise bracing requirements and maximise future flexibility.
• Robust and durable structural framing materials to resist cyclonic winds and minimise maintenance requirements for the Department of Defence.
